Mobi Fodor's Essential Caribbean (Full-color Travel Guide) with FREE MOBI EDITION!

At 950 pp, this book paints clear pictures of the various islands, and I am having so much fun reading descriptions and planning where to go. I've been using Fodor's Caribbean books for seven years (this is the third edition of this book that I have purchased), and they have saved me money and helped choose islands for weeklong visits.Pros--The maps are numerous and detailed. Useful for planning.--The addition of Grenada and Bonaire since the last edition.--The descriptions of the lodging match my experiences of the places I stayed at. Each listing has pros and cons that are accurate.Cons--Health and Safety sections are lacking.* There are places in this book that the US State Department warns travelers about because of crime. There are islands and parts of islands this book recommends that you could not pay me to visit because they have unacceptable (to me) rates of violence.* There are islands (such as Anguilla) where you cannot drink the tap water without getting sick for days. This isn't mentioned in the text.* The mosquitoes. For example, Aruba has next to none (it's too windy for them), and there are places in Martinique that you wish you never set foot on because the mosquitoes are so plentiful. Yet the book doesn't distinguish between such places. This is important given dengue fever, etc.--Not necessarily up to date on hurricane damage. There is no mention, for example, in the Antigua/Barbuda chapter that Barbuda was 95% flattened in 2017 and hasn't recovered. There is still no hospital, etc.Side note: Fodor's also publishes small books on individual islands, but I didn't find them at all useful. If you buy this one, don't waste your money on the smaller books.
